Getting around & island amenities
You can rent
bicycles, kayaks and motor scooters at the lodge to
explore the island. If you need a taxi, just speak to
Ning and she’ll organize one for you. Our local village
is called Tha Khao and is a 10 minute walk along the
beach from the nature lodge.Tha Khao has a “sell everything” store, food stalls and
an internet cafe. The main road around the island is a
20km loop. There’s one real town halfway around the loop
called “the market” which has about 1000 inhabitants.
The market has a 7-11, a post office, police station,
bank, internet cafes, local and tourist restaurants,
clothes shopping, a pharmacy and an ATM.
another ATM 2 km’s from the Nature lodge but bring cash
as these machines sometimes don’t work! There are
beaches all down the eastern side of the island - our
side.. and amazing sunrises; the western side has
mangroves with good bird watching and stunning sunsets.
With plenty of free time during the day, you can explore
remote beaches and lively markets, rice paddies and
rubber plantations. This is also the time to treat
yourself to a massage or take a Thai cookery course.
Recreation options include swimming and snorkeling,
hiking and biking, rock climbing and kayaking.
